This Android AI agent appears to read screen contents and decide where to tap or swipe, though the demonstration was reportedly sped up, suggesting the technology still needs optimization.
Enhanced Information Access
To become truly useful, Astra now accesses information from the web and other Google products. It can check your calendar to tell you when to leave for appointments, search your emails for confirmation numbers, or find information relevant to what your phone's camera is seeing. During a demonstration, product manager Bibo Xiu showed Astra identifying Sony headphones through the camera, finding the manual, explaining pairing procedures, and then actually opening Settings to pair the headphones automatically.

While Project Astra represents Google's ambitious vision, the company is taking a measured approach to rolling out these capabilities.
