Apple Watch Series 10 May Feature Ultra-Sized Display
Apple's upcoming Watch Series 10, expected to launch this fall, could see a significant boost in screen real estate according to recent reports. Industry insiders suggest the new smartwatch may sport a display rivaling the size of the current Apple Watch Ultra model.
Bigger Screens, Slimmer Profile
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that Apple is developing two variants of the Watch Series 10, codenamed N217 and N218. Both models are rumored to feature larger screens while maintaining a thinner profile compared to their predecessors. The larger of the two may offer a display about as large as the one found on the Apple Watch Ultra, which currently boasts a 1.9-inch screen.
This potential size increase represents a substantial jump from the current Series 9, which tops out at 1.7 inches. If accurate, the Series 10 could see a screen size increase of over 10% on its larger model.
AI-Ready Hardware
The Watch Series 10 is also expected to house a new, more powerful chip. While details are scarce, Gurman suggests this upgraded silicon could lay the groundwork for some AI enhancements down the road. However, it's important to note that full integration with Apple's rumored Apple Intelligence features is unlikely at this stage.
Challenges in Health Monitoring
Despite these advancements, Apple appears to be facing hurdles in implementing certain health monitoring features. Blood pressure and glucose monitoring capabilities, long-rumored additions to the Apple Watch lineup, may not be ready for the Series 10 launch. The company is reportedly still working to improve the accuracy of these measurements before bringing them to market.
Budget-Friendly SE Update
In addition to the flagship models, Apple may also refresh its more affordable Watch SE line. Rumors point to potential cost-cutting measures, including the use of a hard plastic shell instead of aluminum. This move could be aimed at competing more directly with budget-friendly options like the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE, which retails for around $200 in the US.
As with all pre-release information, these details should be treated as rumors until Apple makes an official announcement. The tech giant typically unveils its new watch models in the fall, alongside the latest iPhone release.
