OnePlus is gearing up to launch a more affordable version of its Watch 2, dubbed the Watch 2R, alongside several other products on July 16. While the company has kept details under wraps, a recent leak has revealed that the Watch 2R will pack nearly identical internals to its pricier sibling.
According to tipster Ishan Agarwal, the OnePlus Watch 2R will feature:
- Dual-chipset design with Snapdragon W5 and BES2700 processors
- 1.43-inch AMOLED display with 1,000 nits peak brightness
- 2GB RAM and 32GB storage
- Up to 100 hours of battery life with VOOC fast charging
- Dual-frequency GPS
- Over 100 sport modes
- IP68 water/dust resistance and 2.5 ATM water pressure rating
- Wear OS operating system
The key differences appear to be in the build materials. The Watch 2R is said to have a lighter chassis, likely swapping the stainless steel of the Watch 2 for aluminum to reduce costs. It also takes a slight hit in water resistance, rated for 2.5 ATM compared to 5 ATM on the original.
Visually, leaked renders show a similar circular design to the Watch 2, but with more pronounced lugs connecting the watch body to the straps. Color options are expected to include Forest Green and Gunmetal Grey.
While pricing hasn't been confirmed, the Watch 2R will likely retail for less than the $300 Watch 2, possibly around $250. This would position it as a compelling mid-range option in the Android smartwatch market.
By maintaining the powerful internals of the Watch 2 in a more affordable package, OnePlus seems poised to deliver another winner in the smartwatch segment. The company will officially unveil the Watch 2R alongside the OnePlus Nord 4, Pad 2, and Nord Buds 3 Pro on July 16.

The OnePlus Watch 2R has been officially unveiled with a lightweight aluminum body weighing just 59g. It features a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with 466 x 466 resolution and 1000 nits peak brightness. The watch offers 5ATM water resistance, 32GB of storage, and a dual OS architecture combining Wear OS and a proprietary RTOS for extended battery life. It includes over 100 sport modes, dual-band GPS, and health monitoring features. The 500mAh battery provides up to 100 hours in smart mode and 12 days in power saver mode. Priced at ₹17,999 (approximately $215 USD) in India, the Watch 2R will be available from July 20th in Forest Green and Gunmetal Gray color options.
