Google TV Expands Free Channel Lineup with 10 New Additions

Google continues to enhance its streaming platform by expanding the selection of free, ad-supported TV (FAST) channels available to US viewers. The company has recently added 10 new channels to Google TV, bringing the total number of free channels to an impressive 136.

This latest update introduces a diverse range of content, catering to various interests:

  • Family Feud Classic: Relive the golden era of this beloved game show
  • FilmRise Horror and FilmRise True Crime: Expand the existing FilmRise offerings
  • Court TV Legendary Trials: Dive into famous courtroom dramas
  • CBC News and Explore: Bring Canadian perspectives to US viewers
  • Cheaters, Grit Xtra, Heartland, Laff More, and Rig TV: Round out the new additions

To access these channels, users can navigate to the Live tab on the main Google TV interface, available on compatible smart TVs and Chromecast with Google TV devices.

While this expansion is currently limited to US viewers, international users still have access to third-party FAST services like Plex and Tubi through the Google TV platform. These services offer hundreds of additional free, ad-supported channels.

The timing of this update coincides with the upcoming release of the new Google TV Streamer box, set to launch on September 24th at $99 / £99 / AU$159. This device is expected to introduce a dedicated Google TV Freeplay section for easy access to the growing library of free content.

As streaming competition intensifies, Google's continued investment in free content demonstrates its commitment to providing value to users while keeping them engaged within its ecosystem. With the steady growth of FAST channels on Google TV, viewers can expect an ever-expanding selection of free entertainment options in the future.
