As smartphone enthusiasts eagerly await Huawei's next flagship release, the tech giant has officially confirmed the launch date for its highly anticipated Mate 70 series. The announcement marks a significant milestone for Huawei as it prepares to showcase its latest technological innovations, including a completely new operating system.

Official Announcement

Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei's Consumer Business Group (CBG), revealed during the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show that the Mate 70 series will debut on November 26. The announcement came somewhat unexpectedly during a live stream event, appearing to be an unplanned disclosure that preceded Huawei's official marketing campaign.

Product Line-up

The Mate 70 series is expected to feature at least four distinct models: the standard Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and the premium Mate 70 RS Ultimate. Each device will showcase Huawei's latest technological advancements, with the Pro model already spotted in leaked images featuring a distinctive triple-hole display design for the front camera and 3D facial scanning technology.

Expected Models:

  • Huawei Mate 70
  • Huawei Mate 70 Pro
  • Huawei Mate 70 Pro+
  • Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate

At the heart of the Mate 70 series will be the new HiSilicon Kirin 9100 processor. This 6nm chip, manufactured by SMIC, is reported to deliver performance comparable to the Snapdragon 888 or MediaTek Dimensity 9000. The devices will run on HarmonyOS NEXT, Huawei's first completely independent operating system that reportedly breaks away from Android Open Source Project (AOSP) foundations.

Key Specifications:

  • Processor: HiSilicon Kirin 9100 (6nm)
  • Operating System: HarmonyOS NEXT
  • Display: Flat screen with micro-curved edges (Pro model)
  • Security: 3D facial scanning technology

Global Availability

While the initial launch is scheduled for the Chinese market, Huawei plans to release the Mate 70 series globally. However, the international versions may feature different software configurations from their Chinese counterparts. The exact timeline for the global release and specific market availability details remain undisclosed.
