Amazon Luna Expands to More European Countries and Adds EA Games to Its Library

Cloud gaming continues to evolve as major tech companies refine their offerings in this competitive space. Amazon's entry in the market has been steadily growing its footprint despite the challenges faced by similar services like Google's now-defunct Stadia.

European Expansion

Amazon Luna is broadening its reach across Europe, with the cloud gaming service now available in Sweden, Portugal, Belgium, and Luxembourg. This expansion builds upon Luna's existing availability in the United States, Austria, Canada, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, and the United Kingdom. Partnership with Electronic Arts

In a significant content boost, Amazon has announced a multi-year partnership with gaming giant Electronic Arts. This collaboration will bring numerous EA titles to the Luna platform, enhancing its game library with some of the industry's most popular franchises. Mustafa Hakim, General Manager of Amazon Luna, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that Luna is committed to making gaming easier, more fun, affordable, and accessible for everyone.

Initial EA Games Available Now

Starting immediately, Luna+ subscribers can access three major EA titles: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Dead Space. Amazon has indicated that additional EA games, including titles from EA Sports franchises, will be added over the coming months, though specific games have not yet been named.

Benefits for Amazon Prime Members

Amazon continues to leverage its Prime ecosystem to add value to Luna. Prime members in regions where Luna is available receive ongoing access to Fortnite, LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, Trackmania, and a rotating monthly selection of games at no additional cost. Until March 31, Prime members can also play WRC Generations, Overcooked! 2, Spitlings, The Jackbox Party Pack 3, and Strange Horticulture.

Luna's Resilience in the Cloud Gaming Market

Despite a challenging start that saw many games removed from its library early on, Luna has demonstrated remarkable staying power in the volatile cloud gaming market. The service has outlasted Google's Stadia and continues to attract major publishers like Ubisoft and now EA. This resilience suggests Amazon's long-term commitment to cloud gaming as part of its broader digital entertainment strategy.

Streaming Versatility

One of Luna's key advantages is its flexibility, allowing users to stream games to various devices including PCs and Fire TV sticks. This cross-platform accessibility aligns with the service's goal of making gaming more convenient for players regardless of their preferred device.

Future Outlook

With EA's David Tinson highlighting the partnership's goal of making games available to even more people, and Hakim teasing an exciting year ahead, Luna appears positioned for further growth throughout 2025. The combination of geographic expansion and content enrichment suggests Amazon is intensifying its efforts in the cloud gaming space as the technology continues to mature.
