Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ Rumored to Feature MediaTek Chip, No 'Vanilla' Model Expected

Samsung's Next Flagship Tablet May Break Tradition

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Tab S10 series is shaping up to be a significant departure from its predecessors, according to recent leaks and benchmarks. Two major changes are reportedly in the works:

  1. The Galaxy Tab S10+ may feature a MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chip
  2. The standard Galaxy Tab S10 model might be discontinued

MediaTek Enters the Flagship Tablet Arena

A Geekbench listing for the US version of the Galaxy Tab S10+ (model number SM-X828U) revealed an unexpected detail - the device appears to be powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 9300+ chipset. This would mark a first for Samsung's high-end tablet line, which has traditionally relied on Qualcomm Snapdragon or in-house Exynos processors.

The Dimensity 9300+ is MediaTek's latest flagship chip, built on TSMC's 4nm process. It boasts a peak CPU speed of 3.4GHz and is said to rival Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in performance.

Other details from the benchmark include:

  • Android 14 operating system
  • 12GB of RAM

It's worth noting that benchmark results can be fabricated, so this information should be treated as a rumor until officially confirmed by Samsung.

Streamlined Lineup: Plus and Ultra Only?

A separate report from South Korea suggests that Samsung may be revising its tablet strategy. The company reportedly plans to release only two high-end models in the Galaxy Tab S10 series:

  • Galaxy Tab S10+: 12.4-inch display
  • Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra: 14.9-inch display

Notably absent is a standard Galaxy Tab S10, which would have succeeded last year's Galaxy Tab S10. This could indicate that the base model was the least popular of the trio in previous generations.

Chipset Divide

While the Tab S10+ is rumored to use the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+, the Ultra model is expected to retain a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor across all markets.

Launch Timeline

Production for both the Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra is reportedly set to begin this month. However, don't expect to see these devices at Samsung's upcoming Unpacked event on July 10th. The new tablets are more likely to launch later in the year.

As with all leaks and rumors, it's important to approach this information with caution. Samsung has yet to officially confirm any details about the Galaxy Tab S10 series, and plans can always change before a product's release.
