Nubia Z60S Pro: Camera-Centric Flagship with Surprising Chipset Choice
Nubia, the ZTE-owned smartphone brand, is set to unveil its latest camera-focused flagship, the Z60S Pro, on July 23. Ahead of the official launch, the company has begun teasing the device, revealing key specifications and design elements that have piqued the interest of tech enthusiasts.
Design and Display
The Z60S Pro will sport a sleek design featuring a glass back and metal frame. It will be available in at least three color options: black, turquoise, and white. The device is expected to boast a large OLED display with a 1.5K resolution (likely 1260p), promising a vibrant visual experience.

Camera Capabilities
As a camera-centric smartphone, the Z60S Pro's imaging system is its main attraction:
- Main camera: 50-megapixel Sony IMX906 sensor (1/1.56-inch, f/1.59 aperture, 35mm focal length, OIS)
- Ultra-wide: Likely 50MP (OmniVision OV50D40, 13mm focal length, autofocus, macro)
- Telephoto: Possibly 8MP (Hynix HI847 sensor, 80mm, OIS)
This setup aims to provide versatile photography options for users, from wide-angle shots to zoomed-in captures.

Performance and Battery
Interestingly, Nubia has opted for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which was announced in late 2022. This choice is somewhat surprising, considering its predecessor, the Z50S Pro, features the slightly more powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2. However, this decision may be aimed at balancing performance with cost-effectiveness.
The device will be powered by a substantial 5,100 mAh battery, supporting 80W fast charging for quick power-ups.
Unique Features
One standout feature of the Z60S Pro is its two-way satellite communication capability, enhancing its appeal for users in areas with limited cellular coverage.
Availability
Initially, the Z60S Pro will be available for purchase in China, with potential global release dates yet to be announced.
As we await the official unveiling, the Nubia Z60S Pro appears to be shaping up as an intriguing option for photography enthusiasts and power users alike. Its combination of advanced camera technology, robust performance, and unique features like satellite connectivity could make it a compelling choice in the competitive flagship smartphone market.
