Oppo has unveiled its latest mid-range powerhouse, the K12 Plus, in the Chinese market. This new addition to the K-series lineup aims to impress with its long-lasting battery life and smooth performance.

Performance and Display

The K12 Plus is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, which should handle everyday tasks and light gaming with ease. The 6.7-inch AMOLED display boasts a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and a 240Hz touch sampling rate, enhancing responsiveness for gamers.

Battery Life and Charging

One of the standout features is the massive 6400mAh battery, which Oppo claims will easily last a full day even for power users. The 80W wired fast charging support is a welcome addition, with Oppo stating that users can achieve a 50% charge in just 20 minutes.

Camera Capabilities

The K12 Plus features a dual-camera setup on the rear, led by a 50MP main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). An 8MP ultrawide lens complements the primary camera, while a 16MP front-facing camera handles selfies and video calls.

Additional Features

Oppo has included some interesting extras, such as an AI eraser for photo editing, the ability to create emojis from images, and an X-axis motor for enhanced haptic feedback during gaming. The phone also boasts an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance.

Software and Connectivity

The K12 Plus runs on ColorOS 14, based on Android 14. It supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC. An under-display fingerprint scanner provides biometric security.

Pricing and Availability

The Oppo K12 Plus is available in Snow Peak White and Black Basalt colors. Pricing starts at CNY1,899 ($268) for the 8GB/256GB model, with the top-tier 12GB/512GB variant priced at CNY2,499 ($353). Pre-orders are currently open in China, with sales beginning on October 15, 2024.

While the K12 Plus shows promise with its large battery and capable mid-range processor, Oppo has yet to announce plans for international availability. As the smartphone market continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how the K12 Plus competes in the crowded mid-range segment.
